Physical DescriptionGold colored key with shaft engraved on front "City of El Paso", and on back "The Fabulous City of the Southwest". A round charm hanging from the handle is inscribed: "The President of the United States/ John F. Kennedy/ June 1963" on obverse, and "City of El Paso/ Mayor Judson F. Williams" on reverse.
Historical NoteThis key to the city was awarded to President Kennedy during his trip to El Paso, Texas June 5, 1963. President John F. Kennedy made remarks upon arrival at El Paso International Airport in El Paso, Texas. In his speech the President correlates the core values of Texas and the Democratic Party.

Custodial History NoteThis item was presented to President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
