Physical DescriptionRendering of drapery and wall treatment for Treaty Room, matted together with fabric swatches and Jacqueline B. Kennedy's signature. The drapery is made of a deep red velvet, and walls are covered in deep green flocked paper overlaid with diamond print paper in a geometric pattern. The rendering shows a gilded cornice above the drapery, which was not used in the finished room. Below the room rendering in the mat are three fabric swatches of deep red velvet, red/green/ivory ribbon trim, and green flocked wall paper. Below the swatches is Jacqueline Kennedy's signature.
The Treaty Room was the most dramatic of the three White House interiors that were devoted to late-nineteenth century American taste. The designer, Stephane Boudin, utilized the mansion's vast quantity of nineteenth-century Gothic, Rococo, and Renaissance Revival furniture.

Custodial History NoteItem was part of the material associated with the Kennedy Administration and the Executive office of the President. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
