Historical NoteDoll artist Dewees Cochran (1892-1991) began her career in the 1930s. After extensively studying Using six basic facial types she was able to create portrait dolls of children by adding eye and hair color to match those of the child. Cochran's doll versions of the Kennedy children were sent to the White House by John D. Van Teslaar.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
