Physical DescriptionJapanese female doll with bisque body. She wears a Kimono of red and gold multicolored print crepe with a yellow and red brocade Obi. She has a small brocade covered book in the folds of her robe.
Historical NoteIchimatsu dolls were among the Friendship Dolls exchanged between Japan and America to promote goodwill after passage of the U.S. Immigration Act of 1924 banned East Asian immigration to the United States. This doll was a gift to Caroline Kennedy.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
