Physical DescriptionDoll with plastic body wearing white cotton pants and a tunic and cape trimmed with bands of navy, red, and white braid. Also a sash and shoulder bag and a straw hat trimmed with red and orange. With paper hanging tag containing descriptive text.
Historical NoteThis doll is one of a group of 17 presented to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by the First Lady of Mexico, Eva Samano de Lopez Mateos. Each doll wears a different traditional costume from different regions or groups in Mexico. This particular doll represents the indigenous Huichol people of central northwest Mexico.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961 from the First Lady of Mexico. It was held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in 1965.
