Physical DescriptionGateleg table with leaf. The front of the wood table top has rounded corners, and the top is covered with the original green blotter.
Historical NoteReferred to as the "signing desk" this table was among the furnishings used in the Oval Office during President Kennedy's Administration.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThis desk was retrieved in 1998 from auction at Guernsey's New York through a settlement negotiated by NARA and the Department of Justice with Robert White. Mr. White was attempting to auction the desk at Guernsey's New York. He acquired the desk from Evelyn Lincoln, JFK's Secretary, who had removed it from the National Archives without authorization. The artifact was acquired through a court order.
