Physical DescriptionFemale doll with a plaster face and cloth arms and hands. She is dressed in a red and gold sari with a matching head covering. She is holding an orange and red silk fan with gold sequin trim. Her hands are hennaed with Mendi tattoos.
Historical NoteThis doll was presented to President and Mrs. Kennedy by Muhammad Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan (1958-1969), during his state visit to the White House in July 1961. This doll was intended as a gift for Caroline Kennedy.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
