Physical DescriptionRectangular gold plated medallion with a relief of the Arc de Triumph in center and "Union Nationale/des Officiers de Reserve" engraved along bottom edge. Presented to President Kennedy by the reserve officers of France. Reverse of medal is engraved: "Hommage / des Officers de Reserve de France / (U.N.O.R.) / A John F. Kennedy / President des Etats Unis D'Amerique / Officer de Reserve Marine U.S.A. / 1961"
Historical NoteThis medal was given to President Kennedy during the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers' visit at the White House in June 1961.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was presented to President Kennedy in 1961 by Col. Eugene Weismann the President of the French Reserve Officers Association. It was held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
