Physical DescriptionConsultative Council of the City of Mexico gold medallion bearing the seal of the city at center in enamel, around outer edge is embossed 'Consejo Consultivo Ciudad de Mexico Y Del DF' (City of Mexico Consultative Council). The medallion hangs from a blue, white and red grosgrain ribbon supported by an enamel bar that reads Huesped de Honor (Guest of Honor). The obverse of the medal is engraved: "Al Presidente John F. Kennedy, La Ciudad De Mexico Junio 29, de 1962."
Historical NoteThis medallion was presented to President John F. Kennedy by Ernesto P. Uruchurtu, the Mayor of Mexico City, during the President's State visit to Mexico in June 1962.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
