Historical NoteFirst Lady Jacqueline Kennedy wore this cape to a dinner hosted by the President of Peru, Manuel Prado at the Peruvian Embassy in Washington D.C. on September 21, 1961. She also wore the cape to a state dinner honoring the Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru at the White House in Washington D.C. on November 7, 1961.

Custodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
