Physical DescriptionA two piece day suit in pale yellow linen with a jacket and an A-line skirt. The collarless jacket has a bow at center.
Historical NoteFirst Lady Jacqueline Kennedy wore this suit on her visit to the National Institute for the Protection of Children in Mexico City, Mexico on June 30, 1962. She also wore it in Palm Beach, Florida on New Years Day, 1963.
Oleg Cassini based his design for the suit after after a spring-summer 1962 model created by Jules-Francois Crahay for Nina Ricci. Crahay was popular with young-minded couture clients, including President Kennedy's sisters. Cassini adapted Crahay's suit in uncrushable linen, an appropriate choice for Mexico City in the summer, and in one of the "sun colors" Mrs. Kennedy selected for this visit.
