Physical DescriptionReproduction inkstand set, including tray, quill holder, ink well and blotting sand well, like the one used by the Declaration of Independence signers, inscribed "Presented to John F. Kennedy, President of the United States by the White House Correspondents and Photographers April 27, 1962".
Historical NoteOn April 27, 1962, the White House News Correspondents and Photographers presented JFK with this replica of the inkstand used by signers of the Declaration of Independence. At the April 27, 1962 White House Correspondents’ and News Photographers’ Associations dinner, President John F. Kennedy delivered a highly comedic 6-minute address at Washington's Sheraton-Park Hotel.This historic dinner marked a milestone for the organization: following a boycott threat from Kennedy, female journalists were permitted to attend the event for the first time in its history.
