Physical DescriptionMen's herring bone twill weave tan wool single breasted blazer. Blazer has a notched rolled collar, two button closure, three front pockets- two flap pockets at waist and one welt chest pocket and center back vent. Blazer is lined with printed yellow silk of black and white figures of a jockey on a horse.
Historical NoteThis blazer belonged to President Kennedy, worn as part of his personal wardrobe in 1958 when he was Senator of Massachusetts. This tan herring bone sports coat was a staple of John F. Kennedy's "smart casual" off-duty style, often paired with tan trousers or chinos to create a classic preppy or "Ivy League" aesthetic.
The designer Chipp is legendary for pairing conservative exterior fabrics, like herringbone tweed, with vivid, conversational linings. This style became a cornerstone of the "Go-to-Hell" look, where a seemingly traditional jacket reveals a flash of bold color or whimsical pattern. As an example, this jacket has an equestrian print yellow silk lining.
