Historical NoteThis sport coat was owned and worn by President Kennedy as part of his more casual wardrobe and relaxed style.
During the 1960s, Sebastian Ltd. at 5 East 47th Street was a premier destination for the quintessential "Mid-Century Modern" man, specializing in the grey herringbone tweed jacket that defined the era's sophisticated Ivy League and "Continental" styles.
The use of heavy Harris Tweed or Donegal Tweed in a "salt and pepper" or "broken bone" grey pattern was prized for its durability and "urban countryman" aesthetic.
Narrow Lapels reflecting the 1960s trend, were typically 2.5 to 3 inches wide, designed to be paired with the slim "skinny" ties of the time.
