Lenci Doll Factory

Doll Maker, Italian, established 1919
Lenci dolls are pressed felt dolls with painted features, manufactured in Turin by Enrico and Elena (Lenci) Scavini from 1919 until 1944. They are now collectables.

In 1919, Elena Scavini opened up her business making felt dolls. Her manufacturing pressed felt faces became a new way of making dolls, in a world where little girls could not play with their porcelain dolls, the Lenci became a doll much wanted, unfortunately, Lencis were always extremely expensive, and only those girls who were fortunate to own expensive porcelain dolls, ended up owning the Lencis. Soon, lots of wonderful sculptors and artists joined Elena and her husband and they started this company called Lenci (Elena's nickname given to her by her husband)
