Eldon PletcherCartoonist for the The Sioux City Journal, American, died 2013

A native of Goshen, Ind., Mr. Pletcher studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before joining the Army in 1943. He served in the 76th Infantry Division in Europe and was in the Battle of the Bulge. While in the Army, he submitted cartoons to Yank, the weekly magazine that the military published around the world.

In addition to cartoon anthologies, Mr. Pletcher’s work is in collections at Syracuse University, the University of Southern Mississippi and the Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson libraries.
