Charles Eyre and William Strahanfounded 1765

London based Charles Eyre and William Strahan jointly held the patent as Printers to the King. Eyre inherited the royal printing patent in 1766 and partnered with Strahan, an experienced printer, to manage the business. Their firm, Eyre & Strahan, held the exclusive right to print all acts of Parliament, including the subsequent Townshend and Coercive Acts.
