Edward Draper (d. 1831) and John West Folsom (d. 1825)

Revolutionary Printers

Edward Draper and John West Folsom operated a Boston printing partnership from 1778 to 1783. In 1779, their workshop issued a prominent edition of A Narrative of Colonel Ethan Allen’s Captivity. Written by Allen following his release in a prisoner exchange, the memoir detailed his 1775 capture by the British and his subsequent three-year imprisonment. By reprinting Allen's firsthand account, Draper & Folsom distributed a text that became one of the most widely read publications of the Revolutionary War.
