Joseph Greenleaf

American Patriot Joseph Greenleaf established a radical new printing office on Hanover Street in Boston, Massachusetts. His press became a vital engine for the Whig movement, publishing the first American edition of legal texts, monumental town meeting resolutions, and the Royal American Magazine featuring engravings by Paul Revere. Forced to flee the British occupation of Boston in 1775, Greenleaf relocated his family to Watertown, where he continued to serve the emerging independent state of Massachusetts as a judge and public servant.
