Physical DescriptionFooted, six sided tray. In center is a chased image of a golf green with tee at bottom and a line of trees toward pin. Rim is beveled with foliate border punctuated by alternating golf balls and golf clubs; reverse is engraved "Presented to His Excellency The American Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy, Esq. To Commemorate His 'Hole in One' at Stoke Poges on March 5th 1938, Portland Club". The English silver hallmarks (HA, crown, lion, U) represent the maker Archer Machin & March, Sheffield, the English standard, and 1937.
