Physical DescriptionBlack and white engraving (a) in a gilt wood frame (b). Print shows a large steamer ship and boats on the water. The steamer ship has two flags which read "Washington" and "U. S. Mail". The print is titled at lower edge in German: "Ankunft des Dampfschiffs Washington Bremerhafen". (English translation: "Arrival of the steamship Washington in Port Bremen")
Historical NoteThis print was given to President Kennedy by the President Heinrich Lübke of the Federal Republic of Germany during President Kennedy's State visit to Germany on June 24, 1963.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
