Physical DescriptionInk rocker blotter assembled from three smoothly carved pieces of ivory. A rectangular top sets over a half circle bottom covered with blotter paper. Circular textured knob handle attached to top.
Historical NoteThis blotter is part of a desk set presented to President Kennedy during prime minister of the Somali Republic (1960-1969) Dr. Abdirashid Ali Shermarke the state visit to the White House November 27, 1962.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
