Physical DescriptionHand-carved and painted wood Tern standing on a base of driftwood. The Tern is a large, gull-like bird with black cap, large bill of brilliant red with dark tip, silvery gray back and wings with a white body.
Historical NoteThis carved bird was given to President Kennedy by Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy. It was displayed by the President in his Oval Office of the White House.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
