Physical DescriptionCarved ivory sculpture of 8 elephants in graduated sizes joined trunks to tails. The elephants are mounted on a carved, black wooden base.
Historical NoteThis sculpture was presented to President John F. Kennedy during the Prime Minister of Sudan (Nov. 1958-Oct. 1964), El-Ferik Ibrahim Abboud's state visit to the White House on October 4, 1961.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift to President and Mrs. Kennedy from El-Ferik Ibrahim Abboud, Prime Minister of Sudan. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
