Physical DescriptionTwo round black laquered wood tables with gold leaf decoration, long tapered stems and circular bases. Part of hina doll altar set used on Hina Matsuri (Girls' Day).
Historical NoteMiniature furniture and other household accessories are incorporated into the hina doll altars set up in Japanese households during the Hina-Matsuri, or Girls' Day, festivities on March 3 each year. The pair of round tables occupy the second tier of the altar, and are placed between the three court ladies-in-waiting dolls.
