Historical NoteThis sculpture was presented to President John F. Kennedy by the President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1963-1980), Josip Broz Tito during his state visit to the White House on October 17, 1963.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift from the President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Croatian to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
