Historical NoteThis photograph was presented to President John F. Kennedy at the Presidents' Conference in Costa Rica on March 18, 1963 by Francisco Orlich Bolmarcich, President of Costa Rica (1962-1966) John F. Kennedy was one of the first U.S. Presidents to visit Costa Rica from March 18 to March 20,1963. The President and his entourage came to Costa Rica to attend a summit with the presidents of six countries in Latin America.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift to President and Mrs. Kennedy from President Francisco Orlich Bolmarcich, President of Costa Rica. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1976.
