Physical DescriptionModel of the Friendship 7 space capsule on a wood base with plaque inscribed "In commemoration of the first U. S. manned orbital flight/ Lt. Col. John H. Glenn USMC/ February 1962." Painted on the model in white lettering is "United States" and the logo for "Friendship 7".
Historical NoteFebruary 20, 1962; Glenn piloted the Mercury-Atlas 6 "Friendship 7" spacecraft on the first manned orbital mission of the United States, which lasted 4:55 hours.
