Physical DescriptionPatrol lifesaver medal in the shape of a star with relief of a man and woman in center. Medal is suspended on a red, white, and blue ribbon and backed on a piece of panel. The entire medal is encased in lucite. Brass plaque on front reads "To the President of the United States John F. Kennedy in appreciation for presenting school safety patrol lifesaver medals May 1962"
Historical NotePresident John F. Kennedy received this American Automobile Association (AAA) medal from President of the AAA Traffic Safety Foundation, Judge Clarence E. Bodie, during the AAA Lifesaving Awards ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House on May 11, 1962. JFK displayed it in the Oval Office of the White House on the bookshelf.

Custodial History NoteItem was received by President Kennedy in May 1962. It was held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
