Historical NoteThe campaign slogan used by John F. Kennedy to run for President in 1960 was "A TIME FOR GREATNESS". This slogan encapsulated a core theme of his campaign, which positioned Kennedy as a youthful and energetic leader capable of guiding the nation toward a more prosperous future, especially in the context of the Cold War and the perceived need for American progress and strength. It suggested a call to action for the American people. "A Time For Greatness" strongly resonated with voters. It appeared on campaign materials with an image of JFK. This slogan, along with his youthful image and position on Cold War issues, helped Kennedy win against Richard Nixon.
