Historical NoteSenator John F. Kennedy held a public reception at the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 20, 1960, during his presidential campaign.
This event was part of Kennedy's active campaigning during the Wisconsin primary, which was the first contested primary in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination that year. Thousands of people attended the reception at the Crystal ballroom of the Schroeder Hotel, which had been advertised in a local paper by Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy. Kennedy's engagement with voters in Wisconsin was a key element of his campaign strategy.
