Physical DescriptionSilver medallion with relief of the Berlin bear in center holding a torch. The medal is engraved around outer edge: "Veritas Justitia Libertas/Free Universitat Berlin". The reverse side is engraved: "John F. Kennedy 26 Juni 1963". The medallion is attached to a blue and white striped grosgrain ribbon.
Historical NotePresented to President Kennedy during his state visit to Berlin in June 1963.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was presented to President Kennedy in 1963 by the Free University of Berlin during his state visit to Germany and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
