Physical DescriptionMedal with an image of a microphone in center surround by "Radio and Television Executives Society Inc." on obverse, and on reverse "To John F. Kennedy for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting March 9, 1961".
Historical NoteIn response to President Kennedy's innovation of holding live televised press conferences, the Radio and Television Executives Society presented him with this medal for his "Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting". The Medal was presented to President Kennedy in the Oval Office on March 11, 1961.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
