Physical DescriptionIntaglio print of the Trevi Fountain in Palazzo Poli Rome, Italy. Piranesi masterfully etches this fountain which was the most ambitious of the Baroque fountains of Rome built 1732-1762.
Historical NoteThis engraving was sent to the First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by Amintore Fanfani, Prime Minister of Italy (1954, 1958–59, 1960–63, 1982–83, 1987), when he learned she would be unable to join President Kennedy on a state visit to Rome because she was pregnant.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
