A plaque under Curley reads "Pro Bono Publico Immortal No. 1 Mayor J. M. Curley, Founder. Promised To Pay $1000 Per To Keep Boston On The Map". A fund-raising thermometer next to Curley, "Immortal Thermometer", shows "$1000 Curley" as all that has been entered.
