Physical Description.900 gold medal commemorating President John F. Kennedy's state visit to Germany. The obverse of the medal has left facing profiles of President Kennedy and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and is embossed with Prasident John F. Kennedy/ Bundeskanzler Konrad Adenauer 1963. The reverse depicts a bird of peace holding an olive branch and is inscribed around edge "Sententia - Pax-Labor-Panis - Orbi Terrarum."
Historical NoteThis medal was presented by Konrad Adenauer, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1949-1963), to President John F. Kennedy during his state visit to Germany on June 23, 1963.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
