Physical DescriptionGold medallion with relief of the Commodante General of the Carabiniere riding on horseback and holding a sword, leading troops into battle. Plaque is engraved: "El Commodante General del'Arma dei Carabiniere al Presiudente degli State Unite d' America John F. Kennedy" (The Commading General of the Carabinieri Corps to John F. Kennedy President of the United States). Medallion commemorates the charge at Pastrengo, April 30, 1848 during the Second War of the Italian Risorgimento.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
