Historical NoteThe 63rd annual Army-Navy football game, played at Philadelphia Stadium on December 1, 1962, was one of the most highly anticipated since its inception in 1890. In addition to the presence of President John F. Kennedy in the audience, the Navy team included a new starting quarterback named Roger Staubach. Kennedy tossed the coin at the start of the game to determine which team would get the ball. Staubach, then a sophomore at the Naval Academy, led the Navy to a 34-14 victory over the Army with four touchdowns, two of which he ran in himself. Over 60 years later, Staubach said, "I still feel like that game was one of the best games I've ever played."
