Physical DescriptionUndecorated whale tooth with the root end made into a snuff box. The box has a hinged silver plated monogrammed lid. The interior of the tooth is lined with silver plate.
Historical NoteThis piece was sent by a consignor for the President's consideration, in November 1963. The President never saw it, but the family decided to retain it for the President's collection of scrimshaw.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was owned by President Kennedy donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
