Physical DescriptionPortrait of President John F. Kennedy smiling and wearing a blue tie. Portrait is made by burning an outline into wood and then inpainting and staining. Frame is handmade and decorated with a geometric Ukrainian pattern. Inscription on verse reads: 'to the Honorable John F. Kennedy President of the United States of America and Leader of the most powerful free country of the world, on which the eyes of the enslaved Ukrainian people under Russian communism are hopefully turned, I gratefully present this picture, framed in the genuine Ukrainian national style.'
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
