Physical DescriptionA strapless evening gown in off-white silk with a pink net and rhinestone beaded trim. This dress has a full skirt with a tulle petticoat.
Historical NoteThis evening gown was worn by Jacqueline Kennedy to the Tiffany Ball in Newport, Rhode Island on July 13, 1957 and for a photographic sitting with Yousuf Karsh that same month. Three years earlier she had been photographed in the dress, designed by the Italian fashion house Sorelle Fontana, at a function at the Everglades Club in Palm Beach, Florida. Her father-in-law, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., was a member of the highly exclusive social club.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
