Physical DescriptionAn evening gown in candy pink silk-dupioni shantung. The dress wraps together in back and ties in a stiff Kabuki bow. The dress has a boned, cotton-net underbodice that contains the figure and allowing the silk to fall over the top of the structure.
Historical NoteThis dress was worn by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy to attend a dinner in President Kennedy and her honor, given by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shahanshah of Iran, and his wife, the Empress Farah Pahlavi on April 12, 1962. Mrs. Kennedy also wore it to the State Dinner honoring French Minsiter of Culture Andre Malraux at the White House on May 11, 1962.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
