Physical DescriptionBeaker shaped cup, with a flat bottom and flared lip. The cup is engraved with a band of foliate decoration running all the way around. The band is punctuated by two scenes within circles opposite each other, one is engraved with an image of the Winter Palace and the other the Summer Palace. The rim of the cup is engraved "Micheline Pitt From Your Godmother Kathleen Hartington."
Historical NoteThis cup was given to Tayna Pitt Dobbs, who donated it to the JFK Library, by Kathleen Kennedy Hartington when they were stationed together working for the American Red Cross in London. It was originally given to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire at the christening of their son, William Hartington, by the Czar of Russia.
