Physical DescriptionShip model - a whaling long boat outfitted with centerboard, oars, mast without sails, and gear all snugly stowed. New Bedford boat builders were responsible for developing a nearly perfect design for a light, seaworthy, capacious boat to be used in the open ocean for the business of whaling.
Historical NotePresident Kennedy displayed this Whaleboat model in the Oval Office of the White House on the console behind his desk.
