Physical DescriptionScale ship model of the USS Caine, a World War II minesweeper used in the filming of the movie "The Caine Mutiny." Model has a gray painted wood hull with colorful paper flags attached to mast and bow and stern.
Historical NoteThe USS Caine was actually played by the USS Thompson (DD-627/ DMS-38), an Ellyson class minesweeper. Although the United States Navy provided the ship to Columbia Pictures for the filming of the movie, no ship named the USS Caine has ever existed.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy.
