Physical DescriptionTea Set decorated with a repousse lotus flower motif. Hammered silver tea kettle with lid. The spout is made to look like a bird and handle is decorated with scroll work.
Historical NoteThis tea set was presented to President John F. Kennedy by President Sukarno, President of Indonesia (1945-1968), during his state visit to the White House April 24, 1961.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a foreign official to the President and First Lady received through the Executive office during the Kennedy Administration and transferred to the General Service Administration where it was held until donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
