Physical DescriptionSilver-gilt and enamel box depicting the Indian gods Lakshmi, Ganesh and Krishna. This rectangular box has a hinged lid with sloped sides and rests on four anthropoid feet. The lid and sides of the box are decorated with gilt openwork in three registers. The lower register shows women and children inside archways, fetching water and playing musical instruments. The middle register has facing peacocks and foliage at center by clasp, alternating with elephant and horse riders. The top of the lid is in three sections, with a rotund maharaja at center, flanked by female attendants and musicians. The interior of the lid is inscribed "To The President and Mrs. Kennedy from The Maharaja and Maharani of Jaipur 1962."

Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift to Jacqueline Kennedy in 1962 by the Maharaja of Jaipur. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of Jacqueline Kennedy in 1995.
