Physical DescriptionSilver goblet engraved on exterior in Gaelic: President John Fitzgerald Kennedy/ Failte/ t0/ Ros Mic/ Treom/ 27 June, 1963" which translates to "President John Fitzgerald Kennedy Welcome to New Ross 27 June 1963."
Historical NoteThis goblet was presented to President Kennedy on June 27, 1963 by the people of New Ross, Ireland during the President's state visit to Ireland. The President kept the goblet in the Oval Office of the White House. Mrs. Kennedy instructed the White House gardener to place a fresh cut flower in this goblet each day.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
