Physical DescriptionCarved wood crucifix with naturalistically painted Christ figure, mounted in a wooden frame lined with red velvet.
Historical NoteThis crucifix, representing the Agony of Christ, is an early work by 17th century Ecuadorian artist Jose Olmos, commonly known by his indigenous name Pampite. It was presented to President John F. Kennedy at the White House during the state visit of President Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy of Ecuador on July 23, 1962.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift to President and Mrs. Kennedy from Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy, President of Ecuador. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
