Physical DescriptionWatercolor painting of the Red Room of the White House. One of a series of paintings depicting the newly-refurbished public rooms of the White House, commissioned by Mrs. John F. Kennedy.
Historical NoteJacqueline Kennedy commissioned artist Edward Lehman (American, 1914-2000) to create a series of watercolors of the restored White House interiors. She had admired his sleek pen-and-ink studies in an article on the progress of the White House project in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Custodial History NoteItem was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy. Item was previously owned by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
